Melbourne Trip

The Melbourne trip is a unique experience that only Carine Junior Football club offers.  The Melbourne trip originated about 30 years ago and this trip has become a rite of passage for our Year 10 players.  The trip is structured to include the opportunity to play a game against local side Greensborough as part of the Lew Hall Memorial Trophy, catch some AFL footy and to ski at Mount Buller!

For the trip to be a success it involves the efforts of our players, parents and the community through active fundraising.  Fundraising occurs through different activities in which players and parents are encouraged to be actively involved. Fundraising elements can be either actual amounts raised by individuals or prorated on an hourly basis (see below for details).

To be involved, please read the fundraising guidelines and send your signed form through to our trip coordinator.

A typical itinerary for the trip includes:

  • a football game against Greensborough

  • attending a training sessions at Princess Park to watch Carlton go around. In recent years we have caught up with Simon White, an alumni Carine Junior Football Club player.

  • a tour of the MCG and National Sports Museum

  • go-karting

  • climbing

  • some free time to explore

  • an AFL game

  • skiing at Mt Buller, staying at the Ajax Ski Lodge, the usual haunt for the Club.

Melbourne Trip 2019

With no Year 10 group in 2018, it's over to the Year 9 parents to start the fundraising for the 2019 Melbourne Trip.  The organising committee is as follows.

Trip Coordinator

The trip  coordinator is responsible for coordinating the organising committee to make sure that all the different roles are occurring.  They chair the organising committee meetings and report through to the main committee. They are the key contact person for the trip.
Luke Richardson, trip@carinefooty.com.au

Travel Coordinators

The travel coordinators are responsible for booking of the trip, including flights, accommodation and other activities that are to occur.

Treasurer

The treasurer is responsible for all the accounts relating to the fundraising from monies in to monies out.  Also they are responsible for keeping track of the fundraising of the boys and parents' individual fundraising elements, be it hourly work or actual funds raised.

Secretary

The secretary is responsible for the recording and distributing of minutes of the organising committee.

Canteen Coordinator

The canteen has been the backbone of our fundraising and an element that all the club knows well throughout the whole football season.  Once booked in, you just need to arm yourself with a smile and keep the customers happy. The coordinators organise all the relevant stock.  This element of the fundraiser is prorated on a hourly rate.

Groundsperson

The groundsperson is responsible for setting up/opening the grounds on game day through out the playing season.

Meat Raffle

The meat raffle is another tradition, and when you wear your colours, people come up to you. The meat raffles take place at the Carine Tavern and the Odin Tavern on a Friday night every week. Selling of the tickets is only allowed by adults.

Sausage Sizzles

The sausage sizzles take place at Bunnings and are favourite with the players (make sure they don't eat the profits). Again wearing the club colours is great for getting the community support.

Wise Wines

Purchase Wise Wines to support the 2019 Melbourne Trip Group.  Fill out your order form here and return to Kim Harrison at kim.harrison2019@gmail.com
