Junior and Youth Girls (Year 3 to 12)

Defining what it means to 'play like a girl'

About Junior and Youth Girls Football

At the Carine Junior Football Club we provide a safe and welcoming environment for girls at all levels of football experience to have fun, improve their skills, be active, make new friends and develop a strong and positive sense of connection to our football club. The Carine JFC launched its first Junior Girls Footy Team in 2017, with girls from Year 4 - 6 from local primary schools. The response was unprecedented, and over five seasons our program has grown significantly each year and we pride ourselves on the strong reputation our girls teams have developed across the competition. We are proud of our Monday evenings being allocated to girls team training for all of our age groups and this allows us to develop those connections for all of our players. As per previous seasons, we will continue to offer the following teams in 2024:

  • Junior Girls Year 3/4

  • Junior Girls Year 5/6

  • Youth Girls Year 7/8

  • Youth Girls Year 9/10

  • Youth Girls Year 11/12

2024 Youth Girls Preseason Tour

Being conducted for the third time, one of the highlights of our girls program is our annual pre-season trip to the Busselton/Dunsborough region. All registered girls in our Youth teams (Years 7 - 12) are invited on our Youth Girls Preseason Tour which will be taking place across the weekend of March 22-24. Once registered, you may express interest here. You can also check out the story and photo gallery from our 2021 and 2023 Preseason Tours here.

But I play other sports too…

Do you also play another winter sport?  We actively support the many girls at our cub who also play other sports, and the AFLW has certainly shown that girls have easily made the transition from other sports to football - better still, the Year 7-12 Youth Girls competitions are played on Friday evenings so you can still play other sports on the weekend. If you are a player in the Year 3-6 age groups, there may be the opportunity to play in a Sunday competition that will allow the opportunity to continue combining their sporting experiences. We will not be able to confirm these times until we receive confirmation from the WAFC. Football caters for all ages and ability levels, so it doesn't matter if you know a lot or very little about the game.  Our coaches are there to help and will teach you all the skills and rules you need in a fun, safe and friendly environment.

How to register

Registrations are now open to new or existing players, which also includes transfers from other clubs and any returning players who have not yet registered.

For all registrations, including Auskick, Juniors and Youth competitions, head to http://www.playhq.com/ or click on the graphic to register. Search for Carine JFC and follow the prompts.

If you are looking to play football with us but are a member of another club, you'll need to complete a transfer.  This process is undertaken online and you just need to contact our Registrar with your details (full name and DOB) and if there is space available in a team, we will take care of everything else.  The national transfer window opens on 1 February 2024.

Our Club’s approach to registration, team allocation and refunds is detailed in our policy here.

Financial assistance - KidSport

KidSport makes it possible for children to participate in community sport and recreation, no matter their financial circumstances. Eligible families with children aged 5-18 years may apply for financial assistance to contribute $150 towards registration fees. For further details and to apply online, please visit the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.  You must apply and receive your voucher first prior to registering online with us.

Parents

Parents are the driving force behind our Club and we encourage parents to participate each weekend - previous AFL experience is not required. A roster for washing team jumpers, goal post set up and return, timing and oranges and the other necessary roles to maximise our players' enjoyment will be coordinated by your team manager.
